Heather Parnell Profile

In the past five years I have been interested in how special places, events and relationships can be recorded and commented on through the little things that we hoard, which in ‘raw form’ would be inconsequential to an onlooker. Personal history and geography informs the work and is often the starting point, incorporating and processing associated objects. Drawing has been central to many of my explorations and In recent years, I have developed a language in digital print derived from collographs, drawings, objects and samples, using clothing and labels as the containers of information.  This work has evolved into objects realized in metals, textiles and papers, capitalizing on their intrinsic qualities to enhance and intensify underlying meaning.
